How Does Smart Glass Film Work?
PDLC - Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal - is the core technology. Microscopic liquid crystal particles are suspended within a polymer matrix between two conductive layers. Without current, the crystals are randomly oriented and scatter light, producing the frosted effect. Applying voltage aligns them instantly, making the film transparent.
Energy usage is negligible. The film consumes approximately 5 to 7 watts per square metre while in its clear state. In frosted mode (power off), it draws zero electricity. That makes ongoing running costs trivial for both residential and commercial installations in Dubai.
