How Does Smart Glass Film Work?
PDLC stands for Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal. Inside the film, tiny liquid crystal particles sit within a polymer layer sandwiched between two conductive sheets. In their natural state, the crystals point in random directions and scatter incoming light - that is what creates the frosted look. Apply electricity and the crystals snap into alignment, letting light pass straight through.
Power consumption is minimal. Smart film draws roughly 5-7 watts per square metre when in its clear state. When frosted (power off), it uses nothing at all. That makes it a low-cost solution to run day-to-day in both homes and commercial spaces across Dubai.
